Thu, Nov 1: Highway 50 towards Reno, NV

We started for home, heading west on highway 50. We stopped to see some petroglyphs.

We had lunch in Austin,

and viewed the “castle” – a house built like a castle keep, but only used for two months. 

It had a commanding view of the valley. 

We stopped at Sand Mountain, just east of Fallon.  It is a favorite place for off road riding.  Also, nearby are the ruins of the Sand Springs Pony Express station.  We spent the night in Fallon.
